fs9 won't load up....

hi, i posted on another website, but not getting any feedback, maybe i'll get some help here.

Hello. The first thing I would suggest is to delete fs9.cfg. A new one will be created next time you fire up FS9. This should return everything to the default settings.

This little trick has been known to fix all sorts of weird problems. You can move or rename fs9.cfg to back it up if you're nervous about trying it.

do i completely remove it???  the faq's site told me to creat a file called "fs9.bak"  and supposedly that created the new config file when rebooting.  it didn't say anything about removing it.  also, i have a config file and one in text also, do i remove both of those completely?  i'll move those to a different folder and try to restart and see what happens.  thanks.

still not sure if i have it straight, but i just did as you said, i completely removed the files.  it started up, but then just disappeared.  i'll go back and replace it.

hmmmmmmm..........guess it did create a new config file.  went to replace it with the old one and there it was, although some things under the[start up] are changed to =1

The entry to enable the startup menu screen is

SHOW_OPENING_SCREEN=1

alrighty, everytime it would start and then go blank, then go back to windows.  changed the config files back to the orginal and now it starts up at with 172 at boeing field, i think on rwy 34.  also, it seems as if my saved flights are missing in fs9, but i have a folder in my documents named"flight simulator files" with all my flights.  well, that didn't work, keeps saying "flight simulator cannot find the selected flight the default flight will now load"

I suspect you deleted, modified or renamed one or more of the aircraft used in those flights.

well, somehow, i ended up with that folder in my documents, don't know how that happened.  also, when i reinstalled it showed all of my saved flights, but it always used the 172.  now i placed the "flight simulator files" folder into flight sim.  and now all the flights are there with the aircraft selected.  this is very strange.  i hope i'm on the right track, but no idea how any of this happened and also reinstalled squawkbox, don't think that had anything to do with my problem.

now having more problems.  i reformatted my hard drive with windows xp, reinstalled fs9 and now it starts up, gets to the welcome page and then just disappears.  this is getting really frustrating now.

hahahaha.....................well, i got to the point i just had too much crap on my computer that wasn't being used.  kind of like spring cleaning i guess.
