APU & FS9

Hello,
I'm working/Modifying my Gulfstream G550, I just recently added an APU into the panel. My question is was it a waste of time, or keep it in for more realistic purposes? When I do switch it on, I get Power to an already Cold & Dark Cockpit; but I can just turn on the Master Battery, and it does the same thing. Is there more that I can do (or have to do) to the APU to make it more realistic, or is that about it? I'm also looking for a nice looking APU (if there is such a thing) to add/change to my Plane. The one I have I can't remember where I got it from but it looks okay. Not sure if it matters or not but my Plane, and Panel are for my own personal use.

A APU in any plane is used for more than just providing power, While on the ground you can run the air conditioner with it but its real main use is it provides bleed air to start the engines with. With out a apu you would have to have a start cart as they are sometimes called some planes need more than one. B767's need two start carts if there is no apu onboard. So without a apu you really would not be able to start most jet engines.. 8-)

I realize what an APU does in a real life. In FS9 it provides power to an already Dark & Cold Cockpit, but does it do anything else? Is there more that I can do with it besides Power-Up my Electronics, because I can Switch on the Master Battery to take care of that. Was it a waste of time to put it into my Panel, or leave it to keep it more Realistic? Because with or without it I can still Start My Engines. Is there anything else that I can do within the Aircraft Config/Air Files to make the APU more Realistic?
