CTD ..... before completely loading.

Postby eno » Sat Dec 09, 2006 5:57 pm

Attepmted to start FS9 tonight after installing one aircraft and some none FS related software ..... Started the sim .... the splash screen fires up ..... the background goes black, usually the precursor to the selection screen .... not this time!!! Crash to desktop no error messages !!

Uninstalled the aircraft ...... and the earlier software .... restarted the comp ..... tried again ... same result.

Deleted the FS9.cfg ...... tried again same result.

Any ideas peeps ..... or am I starting from scratch again?

I think that usually indicates a faulty AFCAD...  What was the last scenery you installed?

"Deleted the FS9.cfg"
wow, this is serious
"I think that usually indicates a faulty AFCAD"
sound good to me
try isolating the last AD2 installed (or renaming your AF2 folder) and work backwards from the known to the unknown.
Deleting FS9.cfg and isolating ALL (starting with Last-Installed) AF2 files is a good place to start the process.
Once FS9 loads, change the Startup to Default Flight

I think deleting fs9.cfg does that automatically. It returns all settings to default.

Wish I could suggest something Eno. You tried everything I can think of offhand.

Eno..
Have you tried a system restore ( if you are using XP?)
Has got me out of trouble more than once.

Good luck.
