Terrian Mesh

Postby chief1995 » Wed Dec 06, 2006 2:31 pm

I have never installed mesh before, so here are a few basic questions for a "newbie". I am considering installing FSGenesis,  my question is which is better  38.2; 76.4; or 9.6?  also what is  Landclass mesh?

Thanks All,
Chief

9.6 is the best, as it is 9.6 meter resolution. However, if your computer is older it may not be able to run 9.6 or even 32m mesh smoothly, unless it is ancient, it should be able to run 76m

Landclass is the type of ground, i.e. ice, forest, desert, ect.

It's better to install (If you want to pay)  Ground Environment Pro http://environments.flight1.net/  you'll get a very nice view even with no mesh installed!! and framerates won't go down.. guaranteed by a 1.6Ghz computer owner  ;)

Chief,

I have been running FSGenesis mesh in fs2004 for years now.  It is GREAT!  I have the whole world done (a membership is a great deal) including the buffer mesh and the USA landclass.  I have seen NO framerate deccrease using the FSGenesis mesh....including the really high rez stuff in places like the Grand Canyon, Jasckson Hole/ Tetons, Hawaii, et.  See machine specs a the bottom of the post.  The world looks FAR better........ kinda like FSX default.... or even better.

Combined with FScene textures in Asia (so it doesn't look like "USA East").....the impact is wonderful.

Landclass is the instructions that tells the program wht type of autogen and textures to place on a specific piece of mesh.  It knows where there are towns, cities, farmland, forrect, and so on.  It does not typically affect framerates.  The FSGenesis stuff is far more accurate to the real world.

Hope this helps.

best,

.......................john
