issue with FS9

Postby hsvfan » Sat Nov 25, 2006 9:23 pm

Hi all
I have a small issue with 2004 that someone my have an answer for.
Lately when starting FS9, and I 'm in the virtual cockpit, sometimes when I pan around the aircraft I get triple images of outside buildings and objects, and the gauges in the aircraft appear triple as well. The triple images are very close together and it also seems to happen when I perform a left or right turn. The problem comes and goes when flying.

System specs
Intel P4 3.4 dual core
2x 512 ram
Asus gforce 7600GS 512 ram silent pci-e card
Latest NVIDIA drivers

Nvidia settings are set to application controlled
I tried to get a screen shot of the problem when I panned around the aircraft but that came out fine, even recorded the flight but the problem did not show up.

Also can someone please tell me if it is normal for the splash screen to flicker when you go to start flying?

Cheers

Rhys

Hi
It started about 2 weeks ago.  downloaded the latest nvidia drivers when they came out in November,  I have even gone back to the previous drivers but that didn't make any difference.

I have no other programes runing in the background, have done an avg virus check to see if there was something there. Even un-installed and re-installed fs9 but no luck. I can only hope that Maybe it will dissappear one day as well

Cheers

I'm not an expert ,But one thing I know for sure Thats not a virus .
Seems more likely a video driver conflict, try to unistal the driver in System, reset the pc and reinstall original cd Nvidia driver,(the one who came with your video card) But frankly ,I never seen a failiure as you are describing,Question;-..Does it do with another video games ,Videos*.AVI*:Mpeg etc?

Alex

P:S:If you don't Know how to do this ,Or never do this before ,try find a qualified person who has a minimun knowledge of computer hardware & Software, would be better..

If you already uninstalled and reinstalled fs9 and things are the same then I know it isn't a problem with the sim.  It is most likely a computer problem dealing with compatability.  If you are sure that the video drivers are the only things changed than that most likely is the source of the problem.  My only advise here is to contact Microsoft and inform them of the problem.  They have a pretty good troubleshooting department.  This probably isn't what you want to hear but if it realy is a big enough problem than good product help is what you need! :) :)

What do you mean exacly by reinstaling ,to place back the original winxp cd in already load it and execute in your pc..,That wont make any diference , Now if you meant you format your hard drive in ntfs and install again the winxp from zero

Just as an aside....

I notice that my Splash Screen always flickers a few times before the program fully loads up....

I assume that it's caused by the game selecting it's own preferred screen resolution and attributes, which may be different from the Desktop screen, (even though my desktop screen and my FS game screen are set to the same size, etc..)...!

I can live with it though...;)...!

Cheers all...!

I don't know enough about video cards to give specific advice. I suspect hsv's little glitch is caused by the video card drivers or his display settings. It might be worth trying different drivers or updating to the latest DirectX if you haven't already done so.

It seems to me that a lot of people still don't realise that when FS is in Full Screen mode it's running in Direct3D which involves completely different display/video card settings from the desktop. It's basic advice but the first thing I would do is a DX diagnostic. Click Start/Run & type dxdiag in the box.

They're talking about reinstalling FS9, not WinXP Alex. You seem to have a thing about formatting hard drives. I've never needed to do that or reinstall my OS once in all the time I've been messing around with computers.

I readed wrong Doug, I missunderstood it.. Sorry, I also being meesing around computers ,Not for too long since win98 ,there are things troyans inside Sys32 Dlls ,or to be more clear ,I rather to save in a slave Hdd important documents and files and format c:/q or in this case using winxp original LEGAL customers copy ,and record a new and clean ,To avoid a headache..

BTW I do this for a living..

Hi
I have read in your first post, that you have the setting of the video card in " let the application decide" try and set AA and AF in the control panel of the video card.
I think that you let the application decide the AA and AF it will make a little mess.
I have ATI video card and if let the application decide, the game crash.
Hope this can help
Cheers stefano
