you can move fs9 to a different drive, the only problem being the application datafolder if you are reinstalling xp...

i moved mine from my C: drive to a new 80 g drive "Z:" because C: is only 1/3 of an 80 g drive...

No problem. It suffices that after having reinstalled Xp to install FS9 new, then brutally deleting the new FS9's folder and copying in its position the old FS9.

This will do nothing for those paywares (especially the later ones that want to be registered over the net) that go messing in the registry, but all the freewares and sceneries will be working like in the old OS.

You need to back up your FS9 application data folder, you will need to change your view options to display hidden files/folder. The FS9 specific folder is located in the Microsoft app data folder. back this up onto a cd or floppy. Reinstall windows and FS9, then replace the fs9 app data folder and it should be back to your snazzy settings!

Good Luck

JB

Edit: My FS9 app data folder is over 3MB so I doubt a floppy will do, use a USB pen drive or a cd :)

I always have an updated FS9 folder backed up. Never mind the scenery and aircraft, the thought of having to reinstall all those over 200 PAI packages scares the bjesus out of me!

Well, I too have a complete install of all (and I mean ALL) PAI packages, having erased the default liners traffic, but to back PAI up suffice you save all PAI's planes and the traffic file (and you can even compress them to save space before burning them on a CD/DVD), not ALL FS9.

"Is there any way to drag the fs9 folder to my D drive"
IMO, after the clean-up, reinstall FS9 from the CDs inside the tin box.
