Postby Kaworu » Sat Oct 14, 2006 3:52 pm

okay, i have been working all day to fix this scenery i started today, but no matter what i do, it won't display is fs, all i get is the ground textures. :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[no runways, taxiways or roads. it is a afcad2 file, which i later plan to add buildings and scenery to. if anyone wants to test it, i'll email it to you. just pm me with your address. it is only 6 hours old, so there is little detail in it . only 2 runways at this time. thank you,

as i said already, it is ONLY a afcad at this point in time, and it is a basic one(no parking, radios, ect). it is Cutler Feild 2-Cutler Feild International. once again, it a very basic work in progress! rwy12 and other things like ai flights are not yet intergrated into it. it is ONLY a afcad file.

actually it is two afcads. one too is currently too clear up conflicts with another airport. in the public release, this will not be there. once again this is work in progress. this will, when finished, be the most complex scenery i have ever made. lots of eye candy!

I can only suggest you to do a thing at time.

Was it only one AFCAD file, it would have been strange, but you say they're two... (I guess one of the two has to be an exclusion BGL).

Try them alone and one at time first, then try to integrate them together.

All you need is patience. I know this very well. I'm just coming from adding custom traffic to some normally ignored (from default and PAI) but upgraded airports, and it's been an uphill battle.

okay it seems that the problem is in the exclude line of text.  here it is:

Exclude=N40 12.27,W83 7.84,N40 10.11,W83 5.47,objects

i have made 3 differnt exclude files for the same place and they all make the runways/taxiways invisible. if you read this please respond, even if you don't have much to say. if you have any bit of a idea please state it. i am clueless!

The little I've dallied with scenerymaking has told me to make so that an eventual exclusion BGL has to be read from the sim BEFORE any other file that on that area tries to build, or all it's been done has been in vain.

Usually, suffices to rename the exclude BGL so that its name begins with and underscore (example: _exclude.bgl) so that the sim can load the exclude before any other file in the same folder.

This is the little extent of what I know. :)

download fssc(i think it is available here at simv) and use it to  make an exclude file. that is what i did. your problem is probably that the exclude file is higher in the scenery heirarchy than you airfield therefore it is removing your airfield.

For what concerns my answer, the use of renaming the file BGL containing the exclusion so it will have an underscore as the first character is to make the FS elaborate that file first, and then the other scenery files contained it that folder.

Reasoning in terms of file loading priorities, if FS, while loading a scenery, finds first and elaborates an exclusion file, and only after elaborates the scenery proper, the scenery will find itself on a zone that has been cleaned of foreign objects.

At least this has always worked in the little I've dabbed in this field.

Of course swordfish's solution could be valid too (though I never used it, so can't really say).

Aren't you making that scenery yourself? ???

Maybe I understood wrong. Silly me. ::)

Generally if an airport comes with and exclusion/flatten BGL together the BGL detailing the airport itself you can recognize the exclusion/flatten BGL by... exclusion (forgive the pun).

Use AFCAD (the program) to try and load first one BGL, then the other. The BGL with the airport will appear on screen like a schematic of the airport itself, while the exclusion/flatten BGL will appear as blank. Only suggestion, don't try and change anything in the exclusion/flatten BGL with AFCAD, if you do, the BGL will cease to work.

FS has a nasty habbit of making any new scenery a level one priorty and since the FS world is built starting with level one and working downward the new file is put there first and everything else is after words. so make sure the exclude is before the air port otherwise it will erase it.
Put the file with the exclude first not second (ERASE BEFORE YOU DRAW) not the other way around 8)
