Huge holes!

Postby fm3 » Tue Oct 17, 2006 6:02 pm

A strange problem: there are a series of HUGE holes in the ground (right on the runway) of UNTT Tomsk in Russia. How can I get rid of them? They are in the default scenery and remain there even with add-on scenery. Flatten switches don't help.

Can anyone help? Has anyone ever seen something like this?

This is almost a case of telepathy. :o

I've just finished the upgrade of the AFCAD of UNTT because I have in program to reactivate Kai Tak with personal devised traffic that will have a lot of flights in russian airports, UNTT among others.

I can say with no fear of being called liar that mine has no holes.

The suggestion I can give you is to try and cover the holes with the apron tools of AFCAD (and then select the option of making it transparent) and see what happens. The apron tool (and the taxiways too) has an integrated function of flatten of the underlying terrain that could be useful in your case, and in my case has been such in leveling some of the default scenery's rough spots around the world of my FS9.

Are you all referring to UNNT - I cannot find any UNTT in AFCAD or FS9.  Anyway, I also made some mods (to UNNT) to accommodate regular flights, and nothing odd has ever been apparent...

No reason to get on our sides for a little typing error. ;D

Yeash, the airport is UNNT Tolmachevo, it is after all the only airport with that denomination (that I know of) and from which (in my sim) a TU154M will be taking off daily toward and from VHHX. ;)

No, not UNNT in Novosibirsk, but UNTT in Tomsk ( also western Siberia).

I tried flatten switches but they have no effect. Also, these holes are not just visual atrocities: my aircraft will fall into them as it passes over them on the runway.

So, I  do not think placing some AFCAD aprons will help, but I'll try anything...I'm certainly no expert.

But  UNNT is fine, it is UNTT which  has this problem.

From clean FS9 install:

UNTT-doesn't exist
UNNT-exists
Tomsk-Z25P/Tomsk Bogashevo

It's a puzzle...  ;)

Is UNTT an addon?

Well, I have to add my interrogative points. ?????????

No UNTT on my system either. :P

On my system too Tomsk has as code Z25P, and it has a simple runway with nothing else around.

I too ask, is it an add-on yours?

Man, this is getting wierd. I do  have add-on scenery, but I thought there was a default as well...before I had the add-on, I already had flights going there (AI flights)....maybe a long time ago I added the airport to the traffic files I have, because UNTT is definitely in my traffic files.

Finally, I just got sick of this situation  and decided to post a question about it, since I have never found a solution. I speak russian and have been there several times; I like to fly there in FS9 and I'd like to be able to use UNTT. Technically, I can use UNTT with crash detection turned off, but it is a wierd "un-real as it gets" scenario, dropping into these huge holes, and popping out.

If, at is most probable, it's an add-on, try and download it again from where you got the first time (if you're able to find where you got it), uninstall the one on your FS and reinstall it again.

It may be possible that a file of your actual scenery has been corrupted somehow.

are you sure you have not incountered THE RARE Found new feature in the FS9.1 update: BLACK HOLES! FS9.1 is now as real as it gets! It's so real now that astrophysists have used it to prove that pluto is not a planet, but a lovabule disney character.

sounds  weird

Well, Pluto is a Sailormoon character too, remains the point of these black holes you speak about. What's that? ;D

Never met them myself, care to give me the coordinates of one of these singularities? ;)
