that doesn't make sense.
Your getting 35 fps barely, but its slower than when you were getting 15/25?
or did I mis-read it?

I just found this from an article. Check your FS9.cfg display device and see if it shows your video card. Then check your display.cfg file and make sure your card is in there.

AFter flying FS9 for over a year, I discovered it was calling for my onboard video, not my ATI Radeon card. I gained about 10 FPS on my slowish system.

I would post a link to the actual article, but I'm not on my own computer. It's game night here and the kids are taking their turn.

7600GT is a good card, and should be enough for FS9.

I have a similar system:

Abit AN8 32X
3800 X2
6600GT
1GB PC3200 2-3-2-6-T1 Dual Channel RAM

I can keep a steady frame rate lock on 25 fps. However, I didn't max everything out.

Yes, I would use a frame rate lock because like Nick pointed out in another thread changes in frame rates can result in choppyness. For example if the frame rate suddenly drops from 40 to 25 it might might look choppy. However, if the frame rate is always at a constant 25 or 30 it will be smooth.

I have everything maxed except:

Traffic 75%

Autogen: Dense
Add-on dynamic scenery: Normal
Ground scenery casts shadows unchecked

Sight Distance: 60mi
Cloud Draw Distance: 40mi
Detailed Clouds/Cloud Coverage Density: High

1024x768x32
Frame Rate Lock: 25
Mip Map Quality: 4
Global Texture Size: High (Because I have a 128MB card)

The rest is maxed.

Since you have a faster video card you should be able to run at higher settings however I don't know if you can max everything. Also, I did the common sense things like disabling all the background programs.

BTW exactly what kind of RAM is it? What speed and what timings and how many sticks and of what brand? 1.5GB sounds like a bad number. If you are using 3 sticks you can't use dual channel mode. Also, the RAM speed will be lower for the 3rd stick. You might be losing some speed there. Also, it is a bad idea to mix RAM. For best performance use two identical RAM sticks.

If you still got your old system, you can run benchmark programs like 3DMark05 on both systems and see how they fare.
