How to remove ai planes from selection?

Postby gpktm » Sun Oct 01, 2006 6:00 pm

I have many AI aircrafts in the aircraft selection menu. Is there any way to make them not visible and keep only the flyable aircrafts?

AI planes from project AI have a option at install time that keeps them from showing up on the select menu.
I am not sure how they do it though  8)

Hi gpktm.............. You need an air file editor, such as AirEd  then open the .air file of the relevant aircraft  and edit "Aircraft Type"  to read 2 instead of 0. You'll have to do each .air file seperately I'm afraid. Some PAI packages have more than one airfile in the folder so watch that..get them all.

..You'll get AirEd from the download section here...

There is a small program called FS Aircraft Typer that can automatically find AI AIR files and change them to un-flyable.
Get it here. Near the top of the page.

To get it to work unzip fsat10.zip, then unzip FS Aircraft Typer.zip to the desired location.
Ignore the Setup.exe file - it doesn't work.

Commoner, I have tried this as UT made one of it's A340's visible in the start menu, and have tried to save the file numerous times. But everytime I re-open the .air file, the value is back to 0, any idea as to what is causing this?

Cheers,

...lol...yes there is a little sequence..........

1. Open the .air file in AirEd..

2. Click ONCE on Aircraft Type = 0..to open the edit..

3. Change the 0 to 2..

4. Press ENTER to close the edit...MOST IMPORTANT!

5. Close the FILE by clicking on the Red X.

6. Click YES when asked to save the change............

.....good luck..............commoner. ;)
