Adding Scenery

Postby FLYING_TRUCKER » Sat Sep 23, 2006 8:25 am

Hi folks...just a quick question.

I downloaded the scenery from "Bush Flying Unlimited" site and I seem to have a lot of white squares that look like pieces of cardboard standing on end.

I wonder do I need to purchase "Misty Fjords" to make this work properly as it is mentioned in every download?

I purchased Alaska/Canada add on and installed that.

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug

I found that I needed to download and install the complete set of "Bush Flying" scenery bases to be able to get the complete set of "Textures", (like the trees, etc), required for all the scenes... ;)...!

Paul...Delving into the "Bush" at every opportunity.... ;)...!

P.S. Look for references to "Nova" textures...;)...!

Doug, you need to download & install Gerrishgraystrees.zip - i'll have a look around for a link - should be one at BFU.

Cheers,

TSC.

Thanks everyone. :)

Am I correct in thinking if the  "Gerrishsgray trees"  are downloaded and the "Nova" textures are downloaded I do not need to download them again for each bush flying base.

Hi Doug....;)...!

Yes, once you have replaced your default trees with the lovely Gerrish Greys tree-set, they then become the default trees for every location, and the Nova textures will be used whenever they are required... ;D...!

A list of my Avsim Bush locations:

Avsim Base.
Alaska SH1.
Alaska SH2.
BFU Campa_act.
Fox Camp.
Fox Outposts 2,3.
Mondi Farm.
Sandy Cove.
Shore Point.

..I think that's the lot...;)...!

Hi Paul:

-now the Bush Flying Unlimited Bases in the scenery add on at their website do you think I should forget about them as this is where I am seeing those white boxes

-BFU Quebec
-BFU Red Lake
-BFU Brooks
-Stans Cabin
-Hunting Camp
-Holger Lake
-BFU North
-Hanks Trading Post
-Moose Camp]
-Moose Lodge
-ATTE
-BFU Manitoba

-does BFU Campa_Act. give me all of the above?

-should I delete the above from my Add on Scenery file to get rid of them and try to download the Avsim Locations you suggest

-would it be easier to uninstall Flight Sim and reinstall as I think there are scenery files and texture files which I do know where to locate...perhaps this would clean the machine up if I did it this way

Cheers...Happy Landings...Doug
P.S.  It is so much easier just to walk out and jump into the 172 :)

That would be my first choice, Doug...;)...!

Your good Lady Wife would be very suspicious if you told her you were about to perform some excursions into the "Bush".
(They are not too keen on competition from next-door neighbours Wifey)... :o...!

LOL...!

...actually, I found that the "white block" trees only appeared at certain camp sites, so I disabled them in the scenery library (un-ticked them)....
...it's too stressful to find a cure...!...;)...!

I noted on the download page there are links to files & patches for each individual airfield. I must say it looks a tad complicated to me but assume that once you have the trees & the required Airport & Nova textures installed there should be no problem.

Well Gentlemen: :)

I shall try to reinstall over the existing files of the bases I downloaded already and hope this works.

If it doesn't my plan is to uninstall Flight simulator and reinstall it.

If that doesn't clear up the program this computer will take a ride in the back of the land rover to the dock where I hope it can learn to swim. :P

There should be no need for that. If you activated the new airfields separately via the Scenery Library simply delete them again.

-BFU Quebec

I just tried this for you. You will need the following files:

bfu_quebec_04.zip - the Quebec scenery - read the instructions carefully
bfuq_patch_2.zip - the patch

These only need installing once:

trees_v3.zip - Gerrish's tree library - read the instructions carefully

* novagt1.zip ) - Nova textures
* novatxt3.zip )
* txtur202.zip - Airport textures
*Paste all included files into FS9\Texture.

Thanks Doug that is wonderful ;)

Time to fire up the old "DHC-3 Otter" and go out and buzz some boats, canoes, trains, trucks and maybe just maybe take down the odd clothes line. :o  ;D

You have helped to create a little flying devil again. ;D LOL

Have a GREAT DAY!

You've given me a great idea, Doug: an effects add-on that allows you to drop a computer into a lake from an airplane.
That would be soooooo satisfying... :D

Well now I have gone and done it!

I have lost all or most of the guages, GPS and radios in all of the aircraft and that includes when I bring up the default flight.

Anyone got any ideas how to reinstall them or is there something that should be turned on with add-on scenery?

Maybe I need to reinstall FS.
