i just have 2 quick questions. please respond.

Hey everyone. Thank you for taking the time to at least look at my questions. Here they are:

1) How come whenever I try to fly for example a Boeing 747-400, it will sound like a prop plane? Then if I fly a helicopter, then the 747, the 747 the sound like and helicopter?

2) I was just wondering if it was even possible to have the little cargo cart thingys come up to and load up your plane with  just the standard airplanes FS2004 gives you? Can you even do that with certain add-on planes?

Well, thats all I wanted to know, so please answer these questions I have because I have been trying to figure them out for a long time

1: the sound cab files for your 747-400 must be missing or corrupted. so what FS does is uses the last known sound config, or if this is the first aircraft you've selected, it uses the cessna 172 sounds.

check the sound folder in b747 or check the main sound folder.

2: standard planes - no. addon planes - i believe SGA/FFX had a couple planes that did this. it used the commands of tailhook, wing fold, water rudder, or even the Shift + E + 2.

Okay, I feel really quite stupid asking this, but what is tailhook and wind fold? Are those commands? Sorry, as you can probably definently tell, im really new at FS  ;)

Tailhook and wing fold commands don't have a set key command on their own. go to the keyboard assignments, and the drop down menu click general aircraft settings. those commands shuld be near the bottom.

Having fuel bowsers/luggage trucks is quite a bonus; so generally if a download package includes them, it will advertise the fact.

Hhmmm...the wingfold/tailhook didn't work correctly? Does it take a while to work? And since my sound files are either missing or corrupted, will the sound add-ons work with it?

not all aircraft have tailhook, wingfold, options  747's dont land on carriers, so no tailhook, and it would look awful funny to see it have its wings folded also,  none of the default can do either if i rember correct

if you find a new set of sounds for the 747 you can place them in the Sounds folder in the 747's main folder i believe
(C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/FS9/Aircraft/*aircraft*/Sounds) thats where it would go replace *aircraft* with the correct folder name

dont worry about being new we were all like that once and this forum is where you go to learn stuff and no longer be new.  if that made sence to you.

Thank you so much Benny. Well, I found a good sound file, and i put it into the sound folder of the 747, but it's still the sound of a Cessna 172. I tested a few of the sounds with Windows Media Player, and they worked properly on that, but not on FS. Do I put the entire folder into the sound folder, or do I put the individual sounds in one by one, and leave the actual folder out? Aaahh!! So confusing!! I hope you understand what all I just said

its confuseing   for what i explaned though you may need to edit the .CFG  perhaps you should ask someone to e-mail you the correct Cab Files with some good instructions

Try some scenery by the company 'SimFlyers'.  You have to pay for their stuff, but with their ServiceArmada, a load of carts and trucks will pull up, and adjust to a wide range of aircraft, default or add-on!

They're pretty much the only resource for that type of thing, I haven't encountered much else.

Uninstall the sim, clean slate, and reinstall. Sounds as if you have something corrupted.

A fresh install should fix everything. And if you have addon scenery, place it in the Addon Scenery folder, so you can deactivate it at any moment if it does triks to your sim. Some of them do horrid things to the sim, most are okay.
