SRTM Terrain

Postby Viper22 » Sun Mar 05, 2006 4:56 pm

Does anyone have the 70M global mesh SRTM terrain installed, because I'm thinking of installing (even though its huge), and I can't find any screenshots of it.  I would like to see what it looks like.  Thanks.

It looks alot better, I would really recommend it, but only download the parts of the Earth you want instead of the entire thing, saves lots of time and space. ;)

Yep, I only have five or six sets of the mesh, for the areas I usually fly in. ;)

See any screenshot I've uploaded since... well, for months now. Bear in mind my settings are not at max...I'm also using silver Wings, so the colors are a little different.
I've most of N. America and Europe in there now, all of Australia, and a wide swath all the way around the world for last year's RTW flight, and although it takes up some room on the HD, it doesn't seem to have increased load time (except for the first time I start a flight in an area with newly-installed mesh).
Looks terrific!!

I obtain all my free Terrain Mesh from here...>>>

http://www.simviation.com/fsdterrainsrtm.htm

But only for areas which I need to fly around... ;)...!

My mesh for California makes a marvelous improvement over the default Californian mesh... ;D...!
Also...
There are a lot of Scenery Mesh downloads in SimV for specific areas which are well worth examining...do a search for an area you are interested in... ;)...!

Cheers all...!
