FS9 as a training facility

hey!

today I was teached FMS at training school, then when it was time to demonstrate some of it functionnality, our instructor drove us to a room where there was a cockpit mockup and a FMS installed. next to the "cockpit" there was a computer and a joystick.

the instructor started the computer, telling us they have a software to emulate the INS and all the stuff to make the FMS  alive, and believe it or not the emulating software was FS9...
I watched him "playing" with the sim with amusement when he put the 744 into a flat spin... : A/P on to climb to 33000ft and to navigate, but autothrust off...
I can't blame him I did it too...

funny, now I can say that I'm studying when I'm flying FS9!!! but not when I'm posting on simV...

But, funnily, the first reply came from a mod and didn't complain about it...
I guess we should fire our mods and hire new ones, and you should volunteer...  ;)

Actually it's not flying school, but technical training school, for ground engineers (greasy monkeys...
)
the good thing when you are engineer/mechanic is that you don't need to talk to A/C, just give them a kick and they are back to service... when you are a pilot you have to talk to so many people, and giving them a kick won't sort out anything...

Wow, if my instructor was sending the simulator into flatspins I would start getting worried..

Our club has the "approved" software / hardware that allows you to actually log up to 10 hours of dual towards your instrument rating on a simulator. I'm here to tell you that FS9 is FAR superior in every aspect.

All that money for 6 minutes of work..........First 3 minutes, last 3 minutes...........Between the 2, auto pilot on, a coffee and a Blo**ob and all the free papers and magazines that you can read. My company has gone to a paperless cockpit. They have what appears to be a laptop that is just a screen and a touch pen. It is a Windows XP based program, so the option for Solitare and Hearts is also there, maybe the Captian and First Offier could network too, that brings in the possibility for Battleships for example, or Combat flight Sim for our Airbus pilots. Auto pilot is on, shame to waste those to joysticks
