Want to use some old Panels

I have alot of stuff I downloaded for FS98,FS2000, and FS 2002. Now I found the planes if they do work, work bad, but what about my panels, can they be used in FS 2004?

ok, and do you know a place where i can find some really good panels for the DC-4, DC-5, and DC-6?.  I'm a big fan of the old DC planes, and would make my own panels but cant find a free panel maker

You do realize that there is a panel section for FS2002 and FS2004 full of panels that work just fine, right?

There's no need to go looking for an old panel, when you can find a lot of newer ones

Yea but i want the perfect panel for it, i sorta have a romntizim with the douglas DC line

That's great. There are plenty of panels for the DC series in the FS2002 & FS2004 sections

The visual model of any 2d panel will work fine. The problem will be the gauges as they've changed over time. If it is something like the Cessna panel I don't think the gauge names have changed so it should work.

well i have all the gagues anyway, there custom panels for FS98 and FS2000 i bought back in the day and id hate to not be ablt to loose them, also have a few custom ones if my own i made when i had a panel maker that was free, i want to keep those also. Another question in my FS 2004 plane slect field it gives me sevral options for plane like i have 2 intires for McDonald Douglas, were do i change were the planes show up in the menu under the maker of the plane?

Open up the aircraft.cfg file, and in each aircraft entry, you will see these three lines:

ui_manufacturer=
ui_type=
ui_variation=

Edit these lines to change the aircraft entry in the menu.

Ok am i missing something, i have installed sevral aircraft that say they are for FS2004 yet when i try to use them the game gives me errors and crashes

Do a search for Jens B. Kristensen, his DC4 was only released in december 2005 and has a really nice panel. The whole package is good though, nice model and sounds as well. i posted some pics in the free screenshot section not so long ago.

You can use all the old panels in FS9, even the ones from FS98.

And you download the free [CFG.edit} panel making tool and chane them as you like, adding, removing gauges or changing their postitions.
Some of the best panels I have are for British military aircraft by Phil Perrott, downloadable at the FS98 scetion of Panels at flightsim.com. Grab all of them while they are still around.
Then with CFG.edit you can add GPs, other windows, etc and change them to suit your needs.

I'm sure they will be. Over at Flightsim.com, it's amazing how many FS98 files are still being uploaded....

I think it's ridiculous. I mean, who is still using FS98, let alone still developing for it?

It's 8 years old, and we're about to get FSX later this year. I think it's time to move on....

Hey, if it still works, why not use it? There are plenty of actual planes that are quite old, and flying just fine.

To use any panel in FS2004, be sure the gauges are all in the  "gauges" folder, and not up in the individual plane folder. The  old panels and gauges will all work fine; a lot of the default gauges date from FS98 as well.
