Best water/cloud textures

Postby Wingo » Tue Feb 28, 2006 3:28 am

After 6 a month break ( :'( ) i'm finally back to fs2004. Before i get back into serious simming again I was wondering what are the best freeware cloud and water textures?

I tend to remember a thread that detailed a way to mix various different water texture packs to get the best result, can someone send the link if they have it and also tell me if it is still the best method or has someone come up with something better??

For sky/weather there is a compilation called Perfect Sky 1.0 by David Scotti.  It has nicer cirrus than the default and some darkened T-storm clouds (the latter courtesy of yours truly, lol), but the sunset skies are what really makes it nice.  Believe the file name is perfect_sky.zip.

FS Sky World for sure! The best out there IMAO!

As for the water, i would have to say, again, MoreWater.

thanks for your input, i've decided (after looking at screenshots) to settle with FS Sky World and MoreWater. I'll test on the weekend and post up the results in the screenshots section

:) Check out the Golden Wings 3 Bill Lyons mods. Look at the Old Hangar forums for the downloads you need.
The changes made to scenery and light are the best I have seen. And all is freeware.
You can even make a second sim called fsgw3, and incorporate the changes in that alone, as I have done.

I have rarely flown in the FS9 sim since I installed fsgw3--it is much better, IMHO.
