Help, water textures gone mad!

Postby simonmd » Sat Feb 25, 2006 1:08 pm

I'm trying to instal Asher's water but it's not looking anything like the screenshots i've seen! A picture speaks a thousand words so here we are, at distance, they look like this. They sort of shimmer and move about in a most unrealistic way.

When you get closer, the water that is not imediately beneath you sort of 'sparkles',

IMAGE REMOVED AS IT WAS OVER THE FORUMS PERMITTED LIMITS!  image edited and reposted

This time with the water effects turned down. Better but looks basicaly like default water now!

System specs, AMD 1300pc, 256mb GFX5200 card, 768mb RAM.

Hey Simonmd, did you realize that you're breaking two rules with you avatar linked to another site, and that it's also 53Kb? :o

...notice those vertical streaks down the water...in the second pic?

One of the many reasons why I turn the Water Effects  OFF!
Instead, I turn Terrain Detail: Land and Water, up to max settings!

And as for the Water, I still use good-old faithful "Flight Water Pro"..(since FS 2000)... ;D...!
No awful streaky water effects for me...

..just gently moving, blue water....LOL...!

Cheers all...!

Paul....splashing in the bath... 8)...!

Well i'm sooooooo, sorry. I didn't realize that the avatar also had to be hosted on this site as well as normal pics. This is a copy of the text from the Personal Profile page in which you change details like Avatars, etc.

Personalized Picture:
Select one or specify a web path (ex: http://www.mypage.com/mypic.gif) to your own image. Please note that your image must be gif or jpg and that it will be resized.

Does that or does that not state that it CAN be linked to another site? Also, where exactly does it say that 53kb's is too big??

Maybe a polite PM would have been friendlier instead of hijacking my thread?? >:(

Maybe you should try reading your PMs? I sent you one about this matter and you still seem to have done nothing!
And on the image upload page it clearly states that avatars are limited to 10kb, signature pictures to 30kb and all others under 100kb with a maximum of 500kb.
It also clearly states on the sign up page "NO LINKED IMAGES!"
Rather than throwing a tantrum maybe you should put your own house in order?
