Thunderbolt 'mania' (P-47M-1-RE) patching blues

Postby Gnoopey » Wed Feb 15, 2006 11:54 pm

folks, fellas, shipmates and dear friends,

it's even 'worse'

Geee, I'm so sorry, I really blew it this time - first 'minor' error in v2 distribution, then first patch (OK). Then decided to re-package and re-uploaded and made it worse.

Rigid process of re-packaging to a v2.2 distribution now passed ! I'm in the process of re-uploading to all distribution sites.

"Patchin' blues":

The v2 distribution contained a wrong file 'model.cfg' for the MODERN cockpit version only. That was addressed and fixed with the patch file 'P47M_P89.zip'.

Then I repackaged a v2.1, thought everything was now fixed and haven't seen, that I'd included now 'interchanged' model.cfg files.

The file, that should have been in directory 'model', pointing to 'P-47M-1.mdl' was residing in the 'model.60-ies' directory. And vice versa.

This now prevented both 3D models from the v2.1 base package to show in the aircraft chooser in flightsim and crashed FS2004 to the desktop when the simmer continued and tried to initiate the flight despite the not showing model.

This is now addressed with patch file 'P47M_P88.zip' (will fix both of the faulty v2 and the v2.1 distributions)! And the present distribution (v2.2) is now also finally 'fixed to death'. Again, I have to apologize for any inconvenience due to this 'hurried' mess.

Sorry for the troubles - I'm really sorry - I was forced to do this in an unusual hurry through the committee of the upcoming RTW06 challenge (but this is of course all my fault ONLY!).

kindest regards

BTW - as soon as the upload and activation to also simviation.com has passed, I'll let you know in this thread - stay tuned on this channel.

Gnoopey,

First off I'd like to thank you for the time and dedication that you have put forth to make such a fantastic aircraft(s). Did I say fantastic? yes, well it is so fantastic that I can delete all my prop jobs, except for the Howard of course!!

I think you have set a new standard for freeware crafts!!!!

I have a couple of questions to ask, if you don't mind.

First is about the contact points. It seems like the whole aircraft is off the ground by about 3 or 4 inches, at idle it jumps back and forth, left and right from the center axis. Have you seen this and do you have a solution to this minor problem. I didn't have this problem on your first version, just the new 2.0 version.

Second, what does the tail hook do? I get the message tail hook lowering, or whatever it says, but no visual effect.

Third. Another minor thing but it is there and doesn't work. This would be the flight computer. Neither version, 1.0 or the 2.0 have worked. I get the "open data file error" then it flashes and say "--/--error".  Would you have any idea why this happens?

As a matter of fact I can't get the flight computer in the iFly 747 to work either. The only plane that I have that has one, and works is the Premiumaircraft scota.

I just love the way the tail wheel lock works, outstanding!!!

By the way, I haven't followed the direction to get the 'old panel' to work or for the water alcohol injection either. It's great just the way that it is!!!!!!!!!

I'm finally getting hang of landing that beast so I don't 'bounce' off the runway into the dirt. lol

I noticed that you posted new specs for more torque, which is more like the real thing? If it had the monster torque that would make you do a 180 on the runway with just a little to much throttle, I'll install that one.  ;D

Thank you Esselbach and Marlin!

Marlin, I'm currently a 'tad bit under pressure' in real life - I'll come back to your questions asap over the upcoming weekend. That's a promise.
