Re-installation glitch

Postby Matt » Wed Feb 15, 2006 12:36 pm

I haven't been on these boards for a while now but thought I'd come back for some of the help that I used to frequent this board for.

I'll probably be shot down for this.........

I've recently splashed out and bought a new computer and I'm trying to install FS9. Trouble is, when I get to disc 4, I get an error saying that the data could not be read and would I like to Abort/Retry/Ignore. Whilst the disc does show signs of heavy use its not badly scratched. So can anyone point me in the direction of a disc 4 download or is it a case of hard luck and go out and buy another one?

'Hard luck' I'm afraid.

Options?

Contact your local computer store(s) and see if they offer a CD surface repair service or CD surface repair kit.

Contact Microsoft for a replacement.

Dave

Curious-what happens when you select 'ignore'?

Have a go at cleaning the disc

if that dosen't work then you could see about getting it replaced by microsoft as it shoulden't cost much (only the price of the media)

unfortunatly it's against simV rules for any of us to send you a link to a torrent or simlar.

Try cleaning it of smudges with a lens cloth. Or some other soft material.

Or try a Disk Doctor or something along those lines.  As long as the top part, where the writing and pictures are, is not damaged, the disk is repairable. :)
