Overspeed Warning

Postby Bubblehead » Sun Feb 12, 2006 1:11 am

How can I get rid of the overspeed warning, or change the level at which the alarm is activated. It's somewhat annoying listening to the noise particularly when flying high speed aircraft.

If you have 'aircraft damage' enabled, Bubblehead, the annoying warnings will stop when the wings part company!  :)

At a guess, you're flying the thing at Indicated Airspeed in knots as opposed to Mach. speed. Due to thin air high up, airspeed indicators read low at high altitudes - so '500 knots indicated' is about 800 knots true airspeed at 35,000 feet.

My advice is, don't exceed 275 knots up to 20,000 feet, and switch to 'Mach. speed' above that height.  Mach. speed is computer-calculated to allow for the thinner air. Keep it below say Mach 0.8 and you won't get any more warnings.  :)

I only get this type warning when using certain type panels, particularly commercials but not all, only a few. for example there is no overspeed warning when flying military aircraft particularly fighter jets.

Thats because Fighters are designed to go 1,500 miles per hour + commercials are not ,thats why you get the warning.

reduce throttle to stop the overspeed warning
