Somebody please help me!

Postby phantomflyer81 » Tue Jan 31, 2006 11:34 am

Hi folks,
I have a real problem here with FS9! Firstly, I cannot customise the weather - FS9 crashes and the proverbial error message comes up with the option to send the report to Microsoft. All the preset weather is ok - it's only when I try to set my own - something I've been doing for ages. I haven't done anything to FS in the way of scenery additions, etc.. This just started happening. Problem number 2 is that I CANNOT UNINSTALL FS9!! It WILL NOT GO either by its own uninstall or by "add/remove" programs in the control panel! This has got me totally dumbfounded. I'm quite experienced with all FS from 98 up. My system specs are noted below and I'm running Windows XP Home SP1 and 2. FS is version 9.1 with the no CD crack which has been working fine up until last night when this weather problem suddenly appeared. I got so frustrated with it so I tried to uninstall it and start from scratch - no go there either. I suspect the weather dll as the culprit because it shows up in the errror report. I can't find the original weather.dll on the CD's to test my theory.
Any ideas??
Thanks,
Bill

You can try to remove FS by hand. Delete the folder and remove all the corresponding reg files with regedit. WARNING:  Editing the reg files with regedit can cause an irreversible damage to your computer. If you want I can guide you how to do it, but I won't take any responsibility if something will go wrong  ;)

..mm...Have you tried the CD uninstaller.........Put the CD you used to Install FS9 in the drive and go from there..........First remove the No CD crack and the 9.1 Update..........commoner ;)

Ummmmm...
The 9.1 patch is already implimented on my install CD! It was one of the newest FS9 copies put out by MS that already had the patch on it. As for the no CD crack, I will get rid of that and try again - I didn't even think  about that being a problem - nor did I realise that I have some addon aircraft with their own uninstall program - I suppose I need to uninstall them first as well?  I want to keep the aircraft I added before this weather thing started but I really don't want to save my gauges folder. I should have realized that FS9 allows us to put the gauges in the coresponding aircraft's panel folder, but I only found that out a couple of months ago, so there are planes I want to keep that have their gauges in the main gauges folder. I'm getting that "sinking" feeling right now! From now on, I'll put any add-on aircraft's gauges in its own panel folder so I don't have to go through this cr*********p again. I guess I'll catch some shut-eye tomorrow. It's 2:20AM here in Western Australia and it looks like I'm in for a long night. Lucky tomorrow is a day off. Ohhhhhh....the things we do for love (of flight, that is).
By the way, has anyone (admin folks maybe) seen a post where trying to set custom weather causes a crash? I've been searching for over 2 hours now and the closest I've seen to my problem has to do with a crash when trying to download real world weather.
I'll let you know what happens next.
Thanks folks

??? Here's the results of over a week of getting rid of FS9, updating all drivers, bios, you name it - it still doesn't work after a fresh install!! When I go to customise the weather, FS crashes with the fatal error being "weather.dll" I'm at a total loss and just about to give up completely.
Any help would be greatly appreciated before I go and format the entire hard drive, reinstall Windows XP, etc., etc., etc....
Cheers,
Bill

This happend to me about a month ago but it wasn't the weather.  I went to test fly a new plane, got done, then exited the game. I went to the FS9 folder to check out some other stuff i did and it was gone! I didn't think about it the first time but I was flying the new plane without the disc in. Apparently something ran afoul but couldn't put my finger on it. The uninstaller would not respond as well. I had to go into my registry and manually extract anything releted to FS9. After about 2 hours of cleaning ( I had 7 gigs of AC at the time) and a defragg witch took another 45 mins, I was able to reinstall it. Now I have up to 11gigs of AC and I bite my nails everytime I load a new one wondering when it's going to crash on me again. Are you doing a custom or full install? Is it all going into one directory? Did you have another weather program on there before it crashed? If so your FS9 may be having a hard time overwriting the old weather.dll.  My 2 cents ::)

Re: Somebody please help me!- PROBLEM SOLVED

Problem Solved!!
Well folks, here's the deal:
I upgraded my Adobe acrobat reader (7.1 or something) but I also added the photo viewer option, Well, all my saved flights were saved as Acrobat PDF files!! When I got rid of the photo option in add/remove programs - the problem was soved. it seems that the weather dll has trouble writing in the PDF format.
Beware!
Thanks all
;D

A problem similar to the above, but not due to the same reasons....

Every time I shut down the Flight Sim, it closes, then comes up with the usual MS failure report; "Weather.dll".
The hard drive then kicks in, and the program automatically re-starts...
...then I have to wait for it to re-load all over again and then shut it down again.. :o...!
Which is successful the second time...!
I have to go through this long-winded, rigmarole every time I shut the program down.... >:(...!
LOL...!

A search on Google for "Weather.dll" indicates that there are zillions of us out there with the same problem... :'(...!

I tend to think it's a little bug in the program which MS never really sorted out... ;)...!

Cheers all... ;D...!
