I WAS an aicraft engine mechanic in the USAF. Now I work in a body shop here in Fayetteville NC. I do have my A+P licence certificates but have not taken the tests as they are quite expensive and nonrefundable. And there are 5 of them to take. I have 6 FAA books at the house that are about the thickness of your average phone book chalked full of rules and regulations. It's funny how I was trained in the Air Force how it came apart and how to put it back together. The FAA wants you to know the chemical equations of pie related to the square wing root of the hexidecimal factor of the thrust to weight ratio of the 64 bolts you put in the aft flange to keep the thrust reverser on tight. The Air Force explanation of how a jet engine works is simple.......SUCK,BANG,SQUEEZ,BLOW,and GO. Don't tell an A+P certifier that...........chances are your not getting your license

. I was told by my instructer that it will be the hardest test I will ever take, but I only have to take it once. With my certicicates I have my whole life to take the tests but once I start, I have 2 years to complete it. Lots of studying to do
