Generating your own Airline Name..?

Postby Fozzer » Thu Feb 09, 2006 6:40 pm

Hi Lads... ;D...!

Just a quick query...

Probably been covered before...

..anyway...

In the drop-down List of "Aircraft", under "ATC Name" is also a list of "Airlines" which can be selected.
Does anyone know where this list can be found, and if so, is it possible to add our own Airline name to the list...?
I have looked through all the folders and notepad files in the main FS 2004 folder, but I can't spot anything obvious there..!
Any ideas...?

Cheers all...;)...

Stop playing with yourself, and concentrate...

That only applies to each individual aircraft...!

Once the entry has been made in the list of "Airlines" it remains permanent, and available for all aircraft...;)...!

Sometimes an aircraft designer puts his own "Airline" name in the list when his plane is installed, and it can be used if required....but I don't know how he does it...?

The list must located somewhere in the FS 2004 Main Folder..(or is it burried within the program itself)...?

Cheers...;D...!

I think I have the answer you seek. In your Aircraft folder you'll find a file called 'airlines.cfg'. In that config file is a list of all the airlines in the game. I myself added in Janet airlines for the 732 in my sig. All you have to do is type in the airline name of your choosing into that .cfg file, and it'll appear in the drop-down menu in-game.

As Lazer says, it's in the '...FS9\Aircraft\' folder

Here are a couple of lists of the ATC recognized airlines.

Full list of default FS2002/2004 atc airlines. (Also has list of recognized manufacturer and model.)
http://www.homepages.mcb.net/bones/04fs/data/fltsimaa.htm

FS2002 list with replacement 'airlines.cfg'. (There are only a few change to the FS2004 list)
http://www.simviation.com/fs2002misc1.htm

ATC will only speak names it is programmed to recognize. To add other names and have them spoken requires Editvoicepack.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I have a airline called Jackass.

and it's funny when the boring FS9 ATC tells you this:

"Jackass turn left heading 140..."  :D

Thank-you Lads for all your suggestions....
..excellent... ;D...!
I will try them out.

I spent most of last night awake in bed, pondering* over this problem and suddenly remembered that for my own "Airline" to be spoken by ATC, the xxx.wav file would have to be inserted into the program...which is what Microsoft do with all the default Airlines in the list...:o...!
LOL...!

Cheers all...!

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
