really bad frame rates

Postby VVM » Thu Feb 02, 2006 10:54 am

hi all.  i am having trouble with my frames rates.  i was at kbos (the freeware d/l that was posted on here not long ago) and when i was outside the aircraft, i was only getting 4fps.  my settings are not even maxed out.  my system spec is p4 3.06ghz, 1024mb ram, 160gb hard drive, 256mb GeForce 6200LE graphics card.  i never used to have these problems on my other pc which had half the memory and a 128mb graphics card.  anyone got any ideas what might be wrong  ???  many thanks, scott

How much AI traffic are you using?
What weather conditions are set?
Some scenery are not what you would call frame rate friendly, it would depend on how the scenery was made.
I would suggest you contact the author of the scenery to see if this is the case. Other than that I would try it with no weather set and no AI traffic and as simple model airplane you can get like the default Cessna If the the frame rates do not improve a whole lot you will be left with a decision. Do you really want this scenery if so you might have to live with the lousy frame rates.
 Your choice. 8)

If you go to http://www.ngohq.com you can download a set of optimised drivers for you video card that may help a bit with frame rates. It certainly helps with Much less stuttering and shimmers. Also Microsoft have setup a site where you can go and have you computer assessed online to see how it perfoms and whether it is suitable for a particular game i.e. FS2004 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/games/gameadvisor/default.mspx
