How to get the best from default snow?

Postby simonmd » Wed Jan 25, 2006 2:54 pm

While trying to do a screen shot for this month's compo', I realised how limited my default snow, etc. is. In heavy snow the sky goes yellowish and the falling snow 'flakes' themselves look grey not white.

After seeing some brilliant white snow in the contest, I ask can this be acheaved with default or is it addon time?

I think this is default stuff at work. It also depends on the time of day. :)

Listen to the news for major snow, pick a airport near it, enable 'Real Weather' in FS9.

I live in New Hampshire (Northeast USA for you Limeys) and we get lots of snow.  There are plenty of times when snow does look gray or the sky does look yellow-ish or both.  It really depends on the lighting conditions (especially sunrise/sunset), how heavy the cloud cover and snow is, etc.  Granted I'm using the default scenery and my pair of 30 year old video cards ain't what they used to be when I was 18.  Frame rate is awsome though!
