A Question About Time Compression

I downloaded the DeHaviland Albatros (great job whoever created it) and if you click on it's clock you can speed up or slow down the simulation rate.

My Question is how can I increase the simulation rate with aircraft that don't have this feature built in?  I read somewhere that you press the R key but  that doesn't seem to work for me.  

Any help appreciated!

I think it's R + 1 or 2 or 3, Depending on how fast you want to go.

Just to clarify, that's the + and - buttons on the main keyboard, ie, the - and = buttons next to the backspace.
Press R the = to speed up to x2, = again for x4, etc. Press R and - to reduce speed again.

Seem to remember that all AC in FS2000 had it on the clock,wonder why it's rare on FS9 planes?

I never use it, so I delete the key assignment for the time compression

Unless you press another key once you press the R key you can can just press + or - to increase or decrease time. If you have used spot view you may have to click anywhere on the cockpit in order to get the r key  to work. It is not necassary to press the r key before the pressing of the + or - once you have pressed the r key at least once and have not clicked on any thing else in the cockpit.

Thanks guys for the replys. Yup, the R key followed by the + or - key does the trick.  

I wanted to test my skills flying the  Albatros across the Pacific.  It's a heck of a thing to end up in the drink 5 miles short of an island because you run out of fuel.
