FS2004 CRASHES

Postby boyle » Mon Jan 09, 2006 4:57 am

After  playing fs2004 fot months it with no problem its now giving me grief. All of a sudden when loading upthe game Im getting fatal error, somthing about, Modname 93d.dll  offset .00037758  Mod version 91040901.
Eventually the after a few tries the sim loads but sometimes crashes when go to map screen etc.I play this all the time so im getting worried about this wee problem.
Iwould really appreciate any help I could get,I m relulctant to reinstall as I have a lot of add ons in the sim.
Can I reinstall over the top of the sim thereby keeping all my add on s in place?
                             thanks :(

May I suggest the error is being caused by whatever scenery (or *.bgl) file last installed. Try removing it and see what happens.

One thing that almost always works is reinstallation... as your last resort... :)

If you have to reinstall make sure you make a copy of your scenery cfg file(it is in the main FS folder) than after you reinstall move the copy to the FS folder and over write. It will save you from having to reactivate all of your addon scenery. Esp. if you have any flatten or exclude switches set for a scenery if you do not back up the scenery cfg file and try to reactivate that scenery it will not work correct as the switches will not be there. 8)

I would suggest that what ever addon or aircraft that file is associated with is causing the problem. try removing that particular addon and see if it fixes the problem. I have had similar conflict problems in the past and doing this seems to work.

What particular addon is associated with this file?

If you re-install do it one add-on at a time and give yourself enough time between to see what happens.  Particularly back to the point your problem started happening, if you remember what you added at that point.  Also, back up your gauge files.  It will save you time putting planes back.  Gauges rarely cause problems unless you are loading an aircraft that uses a troubling gauge.

If you remove the 93d.dll file it will fix the problem. The trouble is what does this dll file do and what addon is it associated with. By removing the offending file it should only effect the addon to which it is associated. See if you can contact the vendor, there should be an email address in the readme file to see if anyone else is having similar problems. There maybe a fix available or they maybe in the process of creating one if the problem is widespread.
