The hardware and software details have not yet been released  by Microsoft. you will have to wait and see like the rest of us. I am sure there will be a big announcement with all the specs when it is getting nearer to the release date.

Sorry I don't think it will work with 98SE since it's a bit outdated now.  What's your current suitation about the move to Windows XP?

if you believe what you read, Windows Xp (mainly Home Edition) http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20060103-5891.html is on the way out. Support only until 2007. pro version an extra 2 years. i have never been one to get the first of a new operating system (i.e Vista) until the bugs are ironed out. i would personaly go for Windows XP Pro. i have the Home edition and find it too limiting. Knowing what i know now i would have paid the extra for pro.

thanks for all your replies, 98se has been a very good tool for my 2004 runs very good about 53 fps on runway at gso. also,i use some old dos program at the office xp will not take so i"m tellin my age. thanks

Hmmmmm....

I have had no trouble running old DOS, 1980's vintage,  programs in XP.
Just depends on what you have the emulation set to.

That means I am probably older than you.....

I have used many PLC programming packages from that time.

All I did was set up the properties asssociated with the PIF to emulate WIN95.

I have had isssues with the serial port because I dont have one but that can be gotten around too.

The one thing I do recommend is using XP Pro instead of XP home. XP Pro has a lot more umph than home does.

If FSX is going to be fully Vista complient then it won't even run on a 32 bit processor running a 32 bit OS.  Everyone who wants to use vista is going to have to upgrade to a 64 bit chip. I'm going to do that this summer, trade my gigabyte board and AMD 2800 up to a 64 bit board and 3400 and hopefully a half gig more ram and a 6800 up from the 6600.  But, I'm fortunate that I can trade up at the shop I do business with, saves quite a bit of $$$$.  8)
