X-15 Ventral Fin

Postby coors882 » Tue Dec 27, 2005 9:11 pm

I downloaded the FS2002(pg.39)X-15 for my FS2004.  Every time I land, the rear skids go into the ground and acts like a crash.  Can you(do you) jettison the ventral fin as on the real X-15,or is it a glitch or am I doing something wrong?  Is there a way to jettison the lower fin?

I too have that aeroplane and no, i dont think you can jettison the fin. Its a pretty dodgy landing gear system anyway, and I think you'd need to find a more detailed model of it to jettison anything.

Good luck,

I remember having used this plane on FS2002 and can't remember having problems in landing it. Maybe its older version was more forgiving? ???

I can only suggest you to try and make a three-point (no flare) landing and see what happens. Failing this, try and locate the contact point of the ventral fin in the aircraft.cfg and remove it.
