"I take it you're not flying upside down?"
Good one, Zap . . . the only plausable explanation.

Unless of course, ATC meant your other left.  :o

the only good reason i can see for this is the one mr. Beeblebrox pointed out ;D ;D

but i gather that FS ATC can be notoriously dumb at times so i guess we can expect this sort of behaviour ::)

I have had this happen to me several times. I finally noticed that ATC will tell you to turn one way but it may not be the fastest way to get to your new course. For example your course is 290, ATC tells you to turn left to 090 but instead you reply turn right to 090 because it is actually faster.  ATC in FS9 doesn't really care which way you turn so long as you turn. In the real world I think you would probably have ATC correcting you.

I realize this is a game But in the real world if atc tells you to turn right heading 090 then you had better well turn right  and not left even if it is the long way around.
One has to rember atc tells you to go in a direction for a reason I suggest you follow his advice.
I came close to a mid air collision once while flying into Allmeada Calif. all because the pilot in the other plane turned the wrong way. ATC had told him to turn right and he turned left instead and headed straight for the plane I was in. To this day I do not know how close we missed him but I could tell you what color his shirt was. 8)
