Reinstalling fs2004......?

Hey everyone, I was curious wheather if I uninstall Fs2004 and all my addons wont be removed right? Now If I reinstall a new copy of Fs2004 in the same location, will my old addons get overwrited? I'm doing this for a glitch I found in seattle haveing a pause

Simply rename fs9.exe to something else.  The install software looks for that file and if it can't detect it, it think it's installing for the first time and you'll get all the default files and settings put in place again.  All your additional planes and scenery will be untouched unless you had overwritten the default stuff.  It's worked for me twice now  ;D

However, you should still back up everything before you start - just in case!

I do not want to get into another arguement but it does not matter what you call the folder where FS2004 is installed the install disk looks for FS9.exe and unless you have the folder on a different drive other than your main hard drive it will find it no matter what you name the folder. You have to rename fs9exe or move it to a different drive then you can reinstall it.

I have no really problem backing up things, just wondering if....... I reinstall, back in the same location that I unistalled, all the defualt files will be removed but my addons will stay. (I.E.) Flightsim doesn't regonize 3rd party addons. So basically, the unistaller wil not remove my addons. I just want to know If I reinstall a new copy of fs will my Old addons get overwrited, when I prompt the same install location?

It might well be different for FS9 as several things are. Renaming the root directory folder works for all previous versions of FS/CFS & is a commonly used method for making a backup copy before doing a fresh install. I can't confirm it either way as I've never tried it with FS9.

I had to reinstall FS2004 and moved the exe file out of the folder and put in the first disk and it still found the exe.file. You might try changing the type of file from exe to bak That might work but I am not sure if you change it back if it will work right or not.
But any way if you uninstall fs 2004 it will not remove any of your aircraft or addon scenery BUT BEWARE if you do not back up the scenery cfg file you will have to reactivate all of your addon scenery and if you have exclude and flatten switches in any of them they will be lost.

That should work or you could simply rename the EXE file. That method works for backing up files as well as folders. I see no reason for it not working if you rename it back to the original but you would have to backup or delete the other one first.
