FS9 folder: 17.1GB

Aircraft: 11.4GB
Gauges: 763MB
Addon Scenery: 1.58GB

I don't tend to delete aircraft unless they are faulty, or are seriously lacking in quality. For me, it's Sod's Law, that if I delete an aircraft, I will want to fly it the next day, and so will have to go about re-downloading it. Until I've ran out of space on my hard drive, I'll keep all my lovely aircraft :)

There are various addon manager utilities available & without knowing which one you're talking about I can't comment. These utilities might be very useful for checking out files you already have installed but I would be very wary of using them to install the files or remove things like gauges. Some might be fine but, as I mentioned earlier, some have been known to remove gauges still in use which can cause more problems than it solves. They're very clever but I don't think any automatic utility can possibly cope with the many different ways that aircraft & gauges are configured these days. I still regularly see new methods of doing this that I would never have thought of.

This is the flight sim manager I downloaded
http://www.ranainside.com/software_flig ... nager.html.

You're right about the automatic gauge remover.  Luckily, this program automatically makes a backup of the removed qauges so you can restore everything if necesarry :)

Do you guys fly all of those airplanes?

Do you spend more time downloading than flying?

;D ;D ;D

I am very picky and when an aircraft has one little bug I delete it. It has to be flawless in every respect to stay on my HD.

I have 140 aircraft on mine, and I fly 40 of them consistantly, I fly 50 of the remainder on occasion. About half of the remaining 50 are unflyable because of model problems or innacurate .air files. I just didn't like how the rest looked or flew when I got the chance.

I currently have 163 aircraft; of which I regularly fly perhaps ten. ;D

I'll drag one out of the hangar now and then for an airing; also I'll keep a few as 'parts' - that is I'll use them as references for upgrading my regular planes.
But of course; as any good collector knows; it's not the using; it's the having! ;D

PS - oh; I also have at last count 57 spacecraft for Orbiter; which really cuts into my flight sim time. :D

I haven't tried Flight Sim Manager so cannot comment. I've seen many problems caused by these manager utilities removing gauges still in use & it takes some time to troubleshoot & fix them, especially if this affects more than one aircraft. Unless you install 3rd party gauges to the Panel folders of individual aircraft the size of your Aircraft folder will be unaffected by the number of surplus gauges. Unless you're desperately short of HD space they will do no harm whatsoever if left right where they are.

FSM is a pretty good program. I've only found a few problems and when I reported those to the author he had them fixed in the next version. He takes pretty good care of the utility. It also makes backups and is easy to undo any changes it makes. I haven't tried it's airplane and scenery installation functions yet. I tend to like to do those myself just in case but I hear even that works better than average.

You guys make me feel inferior with only 6.5 gigs of aircraft in my folder.  ;D

FS9 folder: 20.5GB

Aircraft: 15GB (400+ aircraft and choppers)
Gauges:  1GB
Addon Scenery: 4GB

out of the 400 aircraft i have i fly around 90% of them, and the 10% thats left is used for special occasions (mostly payware the 10% though)

My FS9 weighs about 14Gb. It might not be as huge as others, but if you consider that it resides on a 20GB partition of a 40GB HD... :o

I desperately need an upgrade. :(

I had large number of aircraft as others, but one day I desided to get rid of all of them, except two(only two!) I mainly fly.And I got tired of all freeware planes, cause most(if not all) of them are incomplete products, even the best of them.
After trying dozens of freeware planes, including the best among them I felt thats enough for me trying this uncomplete stuff,I want one-two or three absolute excellent and complete packages.
So I have now only two planes now-Aeroworx B200(my favorite) and Dreemfleet Bonanza A36.

The only freeware plane that can compete best payware products is Project Tupolev Tu-154 B2,but since I dont like "heavy metal" Tupolev's also been taken out of service in my FS.
