The Rod Machado flying lessons don't really guide you, basically what it does is warn you when you're too high or too low, too fast or too slow. By surfing around I found this Videoflyrec video,
avianess, most of flying (real or virtual) revolves around staying high and fast enough, rather than getting 'low and slow'! :)
Sounds as if you maybe haven't actually tried the Rod Machado lessons, you've been put off by the long screeds of 'readme' stuff that come up when you click on them. My advice is, skip the reading and click on 'Fly the Lesson' - you'll find that he does 'talk you through', and highlight the instruments etc., quite a bit.
Had a brief look at that video and it seems to be very much along the same lines as the Machado stuff - except that. presumably, you have to 'watch it, then try it'. If you want to spend out on it, no harm in that; but I don't think it's essential - doing the first batch of lessons (up to 'going solo') is usually good enough to get most people started. Not to mention 'addicted'.
