REAL TIME AND AT THE COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have my PPL and am in the process of continuing my training to get my multi, instument and CFI ratings so I take this VERY serriously. Everything I do at the sim I try to make it as realistic as possible....heck....my wife even brings me my drinks!! ;) Plus it's a great way for me to wind down from all the crap I deal with on the Ambuance at work all day.

Being ex Airborne.....cheating isn't in my vocab.

That's a LOT of flying. You would have to fly atleast 4.1 hours a day, everyday for a year to get 1500 hours :o

With the way my schedule works I usually have around 6 hours before my wife gets home from work and my kid from school. Since the place I am in right now for work is VERY small townish.......nothing else to do when not hunting or fishing.... ;)

I know that the sim will never give you the realistic "feeling" of flying with the noise and rattling and so forth.....but I do strongly believe it is a great training tool. I used it durring my PPL training to practice my procedures for engine emerg and procautionary landings, circuits, stalls, ect................once I had the "habit" of what to do down I found it much easier to perform in the real plane. The place where the sim helped me the most was on Navigation. I can use my flight suppliment and my actual flight map and can plot a track and fly it using the map. I have even found that the sim is actually quite acurate for this. Lakes and roads are actually near or where they are on the map.
I am in the process of teaching myself ILS and instument ratings.......so that when I do start in school....I will have a basic knowledge and understanding that will help me execute the way the instuctor wants it done with a bit if ease.

Too much time in front of PC....I know......but the hard work will pay off one day!!
God I hope so cause at 34.....I ain't getting any younger!!!!!!!!! ::)

Bored? That is impossible in FS2004. ;)
Try to land at runway 13 at Kai Tak. Ok?. Now with bad weather.
Visit SESM with a "heavy", and good luck. ;)
Fs2004 is a simulator not a video game. And offers to you all the planes, all the cities, all the places, all the world man,  ;)

Take the controls and enjoy ;)

Regards from Spain.

I wouldn't say bored, I just go through phases where I get the urge to fly FS less than usual. I do have other hobbies and a little thing I like to call a "social life". ;)

Could not have put it better

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

There's one sure fire way of creating lots of posts and that's to be just a teeny bit controversial! I think this has been achieved on this occasion. There's something in Flight Sim for everyone. The World is a biiiiig place, never boring but sometimes challenging and Flight Simulation just brings these different countries that little bit closer not to mention the community which it creates. I am always astounded by the variety of peoples who participate in this hobby of ours. I think someone mentioned the theraputic effect flying in the simulator can bring. I have certainly found this to be true, particularly after a long hard day. So to say boring; never. There's enough shoot em up scenarios going on in this World without participating in them in video = just watch World news occasionally.  ;)
