overspeed problem

this problem has been happening more recently and it's annoying.  I am flying on a long flight, using real world weather. and I"m using FS Passengers...I'm flying a 737 at Mach .81 where .82 is max speed. and I'm flying and then the weather changes and my aircraft over speeds for about 10 seconds.  If you have fspassengers you'll know that causes penalty in that program.  Makes me mad becuase the wind doesn't normally shift to where it pushes your plane 10-15 knots faster and overspeeding your aircraft.  Anyone know of a way to prevent this? thanks and sorry if this is a little confusing. just trying to find a way to explain it.

Yup- I agree. Real world weather tailwinds can cause that kind of thing - especially noticeable if you are speeding the sim up. 737s cruise around M0.79 in real life, so that'd be a good bet.

And it isn't the tailwind that causes overspeed it is the headwind.  If you have a 20kt tailwind that shears to a 20kt headwind your airspeed will increase by 40kts.  that is called increased performance windshear which can cause increased stress on the aircraft.  If you have it the other way around you will loss airspeed and can possibily cause a stall especially at low airspeeds like on approach, that is called a decreased performanced windshear.  It is not as common at altitude in real life as there is in the sim and I agree it can be bothersom.  I hope they can fix it in the next one, if there is ever one LOL.  Cheers!

the registered version of FSUIPC will smoothen the wind direction changes.
And I agree it's a pain.

i concur, try not flying so close to the maximum safe airspeed... mach .75 will give you a nice ground speed and you won't have as many problems ;)

Thanks for the help.   I figured everyone would just say to cruise at a slower mach. but ahh well I guess I'll conceed and do it.  Have a great one.

The normal cruise speed for a 737-400 is 0.74M at FL330 although it can go up to 0.78M with safety at the same altitude.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the NGs which normally cruise at .78 - .79ish (depending on cost index etc)

Ah yes, I remember this wind problem... used to be irritating too.

Good idea to fly the 737 at the recommended slower speed instead.  Though there are times that the wind is strong enough to still make you overspeed.  This one time the wind made me overstress my 737 too... it was that bad  :o
