where did they come from!

Postby n_richardson05 » Tue Dec 06, 2005 9:34 am

ok this happend a while ago but i thought i would bring it up so one time. i was flying along about 40 miles north of kitty hawk and the atc controller asked me to report an air craft in sight. i looked up and there was about 20 to 30 aircraft flying away from the same point at the same time. It looked like they all sudenly spawned from that point in the sky it was really weird it really happend. did this happen to any body else.

A Wright Brothers fans meeting had just taken place and you caught them all flying back home.  ;)

PS: what about a comma or two in your next post?  :D

Shame you didn't get a S-Shot, maybe it was a secret military exercise or something.....

It's probably due to duplicate flightplans. I was once on a flight and noticed several dozen flashing lights in the distance. I didn't know what it was. As I got closer, I realized that they were actually AI aircraft. I looked into it, and found this phenomenon in a couple locations.

After going through all my AI tracks, I found several dozen duplicates of a single flight.

OR

It could be FS screwing up a little.  When you enter an area, FS spawns the AI aircraft in that area so that you don't have to have thousands of aircraft flying all over the world when you can't even see them.

So maybe FS caught a little drag, so to speak, and when that message came over the radio it kicked the program a little and all the AI that were supposed to be flying away from that area at that time were simultaneously popped up right there.

Or maybe its just a timewarp from the past . . . ever seen Donnie Darko? ;)

The only other thing I have seen is if you are using 8x or 16x for a while and then slow down to normal FS will play catch up generating AI for the area you are now in and it looks crazy, with all of the flashing lights popping out of no where.

i was at normal speed in a cesna at about 1000 feet and all the aircraft where of various types from cesnas and 747s and that was my theory that it was an ai spawn point for that region

Were you near the Bermuda triangle? ;)

To take a shot, pause the game (to make it easier) and press the Print Screen button on your keyboard. Then open an image or paint program, the default MS Paint is fine and easiest and select 'paste'. Bear in mind that to post on here (in the screenshots section of course) the pic must be no bigger than 800x600.

There are also small programs that will allow you to take screen shots without having to press pause GRAB CLIP is just one of several out there. Most of these give you the option as to where to place the shots after you snap them. 8)
