Supercharge your Default Cessna 182

Postby Clipper » Thu Dec 01, 2005 7:10 am

Here's a proven tip for unloading some of the excess weight (baggage and 2 passengers) in your default Cessna 182. I've tried it and it works fine, but nevertheless be sure to make a backup of your original 182 aircraft config. file before doing this tweek. The 182 will perform much better for you!

I've changed ALL of my planes to load cold/dark with NO pilots, passengers, fuel or baggage. So... unless I'm continuing a saved flight.. I have to load the plane per the flight I'm taking. It's an extra step or two during "create a flight", but worth the time and it's more realistic. (If I'm the pilot, the left seat needs to be 210 lbs. anyway

Clipper,
If you want to boost performance even more you can make the following modification to the aircraft.cfg file.

Change it from this:
turbocharged=0                                 //Is it turbocharged? 0=FALSE, 1=TRUE
max_design_mp=0                                //Max design manifold pressure, (inHg)
min_design_mp=                             //Min design manifold pressure, (inHg)
critical_altitude=0                         //Altitude to which the turbocharger will provide max design manifold pressure (feet)

To This:
turbocharged=1                                 //Is it turbocharged? 0=FALSE, 1=TRUE
max_design_mp=32                                //Max design manifold pressure, (inHg)
min_design_mp=1                             //Min design manifold pressure, (inHg)
critical_altitude=28000                          //Altitude to which the turbocharger will provide max design manifold pressure (feet)

you can then cruise at full power at 28,000 feet at 200kts ground speed.

If you want some real oomph then take the dynamics from the Mig-31 Firefox and dump 'em in. Then she REALLY moves ;D

Geez, seeing as we seem to be answering this post exponentially, why don't we just attach one of these to the 182 and spend some quality time in outer space?... ;)

Anyone got anything faster?  :-*

ok guys. some advice. for a realistic experience you should only make very small changes to .cfg files.

but a mach 3 cessna would be fun  8)

Mach 3? Hell, let's go the full way up to Mach 10! ;D

Anyone know the specifics for the X-43?
