Missing Airports

Postby lesmorris » Thu Dec 01, 2005 11:15 pm

Hi..SORRY I am a NEWBIE!!! so maybe stupid question

When adding scenery, often there is an added airport placed near to the scenery added.

I think the basic scenery is being added OK but I cannot find the added airports to select

Is there an additional process to add a new aiport to the selection. or should it be automatically added ...I check both default and add-on menus

Thanks

Les

Welcome Les,

In some cases the author will not include the files(s) needed to add the airport to the 'selection' list.

This is often the case with small airports i.e, bush strips or small private strips, as finding the strip is part of the adventure of flying in remote areas, I suppose.

If there are no 'af2_xxxx.bgl' or 'xxxx_afd.bgl' files in the extracted download this is probably the case.

*If there is an 'af2_xxxx.bgl' file included it needs to be placed in a 'scenery' sub-folder of your choice, examples ......\)\scenery\

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

have you activated the new scenery in the scenery library?

whenever you install new scenery you must go to the scenery library (in the settings screen) and hit the "add" button so you can add the new scenery to the library...

then, you restart FS and your new scenery will be there ;)

welcome to SimV, Les

Thank you for replies... I have checked and the scenery has been added correctly in each case and I was able to find by checking internet information on locations and simply flying there..like you said..that's kind of satisfying!

I think Dave's answer is probably the correct one..I will do as he suggests

Best Regards

Les
