'fs9.bat' Huh?

I want to install a French landclass. The folder includes a  file to improve some textures:

Addon scenery\lc_france\correction_fs9.bat.

I've never met a bat file before. What do I do with it?
If, as I presume, I double-click to run it, do I do that before or after pasting the main bgl into Addon Scenery? Will the bat file then modify the bgl, or make a separate folder in Addon Scenery, which also has to be declared?

Will someone please publish an Fs9 for Dummies?

Heya Phiz,

A "whatever.bat" file (for us computer oldsters that remember the old MS/DOS days) is a batch file written to perform some type of action.

The scenery author probably created this FS9.bat "batch file" as an autoinstall.  The best way to determine what it does is to read up on what the scenery author describes in their Readme.txt file which should have been included with the scenery correction file that you downloaded.

For a Windows XP user I would think that by clicking Start -->Run -->(then Browse to the FS9.bat file) and clicking OK would Run it.

A xxxxx.bat file can be looked at as a text file.  Before I ran any such file... I'd be taking a look at what the commands are.  A .bat file can be a very powerful "alterer" of your computer.

Right click on the .bat file and select "open with..."

From that menu, select "notepad."  If notepad isn't there, hit "choose program" instead.  From the list that shows up, choose "notepad".
