water prob

so, i downloaded Silver wings the second i heard about it... only one prob   i cant get past the freaking fs default water textures    quite annoying!  >:( I set display water detail to max but it keeps going back, evrything elce is great  but can someone help me get past the fs default water?  I got a Nividia GeForce4 420 Go 32mb  i set it to quality instead of performance  but i cant get the good water textures. other specs : AMD Athlon XP Processor 3000+, 398 MHz, 512 Ram, Windows XP Service pack 2. (ha ha   nice laptop eh?) Well anyway all help would be appreciated.

Hiya, bad news is that you're unlikely to be able to get water effects on your GeForce 4 card. Sorry, but it is THE weakest link in your spec.

I think I've heard of some workaround 'tricks' for GeForce 4s but you need someone else who's got the card and tried em to advise.

Someone should really have advised you that your spec just isn't really suitable for 'high end' gaming if you want goodies like dynamic reflective textures and water effects.

Sorry I can't tell it to you more gently.... ???

its ok  i was expecting that answer. other than that i love my comp!  get a good 19 fps in clear skys   around 12 with a 6/8 cloud coverage.  If someone does have a loophole  be shure to tell me!

Rollerball is right, the GeForce 420 doesnt show water reflections.... :(

Might be a good idea to post the question down in the hardware forum where folks like congo and auto_pilot might be able to give you a bit more info.
