Is there a way to turn off the virtual cabin on the Meljet 777?

When I use the key pad to look out the cockpit windows I can't see out because the virtual cabin is in the way.

Well, not exactly.

There is a hex editor that can help you get rid it by opening the *.mdl file.

However there are severe downsides to it:

1. When you open the file, all you will ever get is a complete gibberish of numbers that will completely make no sense, even after studying the program.

2. The utility only allows you remove it. It can't edit the interior or exterior like you do in Gmax at all.

3. The last editor I saw was for either FS98 or FS2k and was used to open *.mdl file compiled from FSDS. I have doubts about it working on FS9 models that originated from Gmax. Most of our today's addons are usually created in Gmax.

If I can't remove it, can I reconfigure it so when I press number 4 on the number pad I can see outside instead of the cabin walls?

Have you tried pressing W & then looking around?

Depending on the model this will often resolve your problem.

If you just want to look left from the 2D panel view and not see the virtual cockpit then press "W" before looking. That hides the 2D panel and the VC. Press "W" until the panel is gone then press "4" to look left or "6" for right and no VC.

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
