Buggy and Poor FPM all of a suuden?

Postby Thunderbird1 » Tue Oct 18, 2005 11:17 pm

The last few times I' fired up FS9 areas where I normally get 24- 30fpm have just dropped down to 9 and 6 at times. the smoothness is now choppy.

I have a 6800Gt 256mb video card
1g of ram
AMD 3200 processor.

Any ideas as to what might cause this and if there is a fix? Hopefully without having to unintsall and reinstall the software.

The ONLY way you can properly assess what's happening is to download and install FSAutostart to shut off all the unnecessary background programs and services that are running 'behind the scenes'

10 to 1 you have recently

(get AVG Free edition - beats the ar*e off Norton) TOGETHER WITH Spybot Search and Destroy. Both are ESSENTIAL apps.

Roger,

Great advice.... been using AVG Free since an annual online update for McAfee totally botched my machine.  I used to have all sorts of compatibility "issues" with McAfee and other programs.... NONE with AVG.  And with McAfee I used to get the occasional virus slipping by it.  None for over a year with AVG....they all get nailed before they arrive IN the machine.

And Spybot is the "standard of the industry".   ;)

best,

Great Advice!. I dumped Nortons and Installed the AVG. Much better. I also installed the Fs Auto start. Not much luck with that. Still working with it. I also did notice that when I removed the Airport Environment 7  some of the smoothness came back, but still a little sluggish. Still working it and tweaking it.

I would be very very  >:( if I was getting choppy frame rates whilst having the hardware you do... nice setup.

I have noticed that MSN Messenger takes up a lot of resources so its good to just wipe that off everytime your on FSIM.

Also Norton does make your system sluggish, so get rid of that!

if none of this helps, I would defo reinstall FS2004.
