Heya Waspiflab,

Welcome to SimV!

Is this with all of your aircraft or just one aircraft in particular?  It's possible that it could be a Weight and Balance issue within a particular aircraft.  There have also been times when I've downloaded an add-on aircraft and this happens.  When I open up the Aircraft.cfg file I discover that the author has placed the fuel tanks too far forward in the nose of the aircraft causing a severe nosedive.  Without knowing which aircraft you're talking about it's a bit difficult to help you out.

What type of game controller are you using (Joystick, Yoke, or both)?  Is it calibrated properly?  When you open the FS 2004 Main Menu Options -->Controls -->Calibrate Joystick you should see a list of control devices.  Click to select the joystick or yoke then click the Properties button.  You should see a box with a small crosshairs in this window.  Make sure that this crosshairs is positioned in the center of this box.

Someone else may come up with other ideas, however, in my experience, these are the two main causes of severe aircraft control problems where you can't adjust pitch.
Happy Flying -- And may your main wheels always touch down first!

Like Graycat said it might be a weight and balance with the aircraft selected click on the change fuel and payload box, check to see where the index is if it is all the way forward then the plane will be nose heavy. Granted this check is not exactly the best thing there is but it gives you a rough idea. You can edit the placement of the fuel tanks and the amount of fuel in each tank in the aircraft cfg file. I do not know which lines to change but I am pretty sure they are all from one referance point.
I usually will not go to that extent to get a plane to work. If it does not work as is then it goes to the graveyard. I do not mind a little tuning but not to that extent 8)

Check your autopilot... ;)...!

Is it still switched on...?
If you have just cancelled it, you will need to re-trim the aircraft again...
If your attempts to trim the aircraft with the trim-wheel keep failing, and you are either climbing of diving, then your auto-pilot is likely to be still switched on and trying to maintain the altitude and rate of climb which you previously set on the radios..... ;)...!

Autopilot on after the climb-out.
Autopilot off before the landing.

Each case requires re-trimming the aircraft.

...just a few thoughts... 8)...!

Paul... ;D...!

Tip: Always keep a wary eye on your trim-wheel, and note it's setting....you generally spend more time adjusting the trim-wheel than fiddling with the yoke, to maintain level flight when the auto-pilot is off... ;D...!
Left hand on the yoke, right hand on the trim-wheel...!
