Isn't there something out there that will sharpen any or all of your aircraft textures??

Try anisotropic filtering, it's applied in your monitor settings.

Try going to the "Spot" view and using your "+" key zoom in on the airplane then zoom back out with the "-" key. Does the textures get sharper? If so you will need to download DXTbmp from here at SimV and remove the MIPs from your textures. This is an issue with some video cards. I had the problem when I first got FS2004 on a GForce4.

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

I was just going to mention Tony Gould. He does texture fixes for most default FS2004 aircraft - I've found all the ones I've downloaded work well.

airlinefly, go to the main simviation download page and search 'FS2004 texture fixes'. here's a sample page (scroll down to '10.':-
