FS2006 ?

Postby garymbuska » Wed Sep 14, 2005 9:58 am

Hello all I was wondering if any one has heard anything about when M$ might relase FS2006? I have not been able to find out any thing. I think M$ is working on getting out there newest game console and have set everything else on the back burner.

Thanks ALROT.
I have not been as active here as I once was, just to busy lately I am sure you know I left Livewire some time ago I still look at the sight every now and then but have no deire to return. I now do all of my flying with Airsource.
I have thought about getting the 727 Professional CD but did not want to if M$ was going to relase fs10 any time soon.
I have one 727 in my fleet allready but liked what this one has to offer.

I'm not too anxious for FS10 to be released before 2008/2009 simply because I won't have a computer for a couple years ;D

Well, if the forthcoming FS10 is as big an improvement over FS2k4 as CFS3 was over CFS2, then I say NO THANKS.  Let M/S keeep it, we don't need it.

CF3 wasnt based on any current Sim.. built from scratch to what ive heard..

CF2 Was based on FS2002
CF1 - 98..

So i dont think theres any danger of it looking like CF3..

All i can say is bring it on.. but if its a upgrade on FS9 and not rebuilt.. then it can go in the bargin section asap..  8)

I have to say that I know two fifths of bugger all when it comes to development and how a computer game/simulation is written and operates so from an ignorant user

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

The problem with FS is that it is accurately tracking a TON of mathematical variables at every given instant.  Your plane...as well as all the other AI planes.  All that math has NOTHING to do with generating the "scenery" at all.

So the computer power is being taken up by a LOT of "somewhat" (ahem) accurate modeling as a priority.   After all it is a SIMULATION... not simply a game where the actions just need to be exciting first and semi-realistic second.

To do THAT and to add in the graphics of a "game" type box.... would require a processor that is far more robust than the current generation.  In fact... look how demanding the current version already IS on the best PCs.

And as to the current qulaity of graphics........ a LOT depends on where you have your sliders set.  I have mine almost maxed... and the realism is pretty darn good.  Then if you add on stuff like FSGenesis mesh, and FScene textures, and payware aircraft... this thing is pretty darn amazing visually.

The response to that thought usually is "But Microsoft could do all that add-on stuff in the stock program."

Yup.... they sure could.  But then the price for the sim for EVERYONE would go to well over a hundred bucks... probably more like two hundred.  How many people are going to pay that?  Suddenly the volume market plummets.

best,
