The helicopter's propeller disappeared

Postby gpktm » Fri Sep 23, 2005 5:26 pm

I have a problem with the chopper's propeller and the those things the chopper stands, I don't know how to call them so let's say'em "legs" of the helicopter.

I downloaded a chopper (A-109E EKAB) and when I selected the chopper in "Select Aircraft" screen a message came up sayin something about "Uncompatible product" (If I can remember well, cause isn't appeared since then) and asking me if I wanted to remove it, I clicked "Yes" and the chopper was without propeller. I don't know if the propeller dissappeared due to the message. But is most possible reason.

Does anyone know how to recover the propeller and the "legs"?

Try to look inside the helos folder, there you will find a texture folder, inside that folder, should be something. For instance, the default Bell 206's rotor texture is called prop_bell_206.bmp. If you don't find anything, thats why it's not there, but it's most likely because of that message.

You can call them skids. Oh.. and the 'propeller' is called a rotor. ;)

I hope it helped. :)

You misunderstood it.

Go to your main FS9 folder, could be C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\

Then find the aircraft folder, inside it you will find all your aircrafts. Then go to one of the specific folder, wich in your case would be the A-109E EKAB's folder.

Then you can check if the rotor textures are there or not.

I don't know much about helicopters but this error message means it was originally created for an earlier version of FS. It won't be fully compatible with FS9.

On a helicoptor it isn't a propeller it's a rotor.  ;D Those things you land on are the skids (or landing gear in some helos with wheels). The model you downloaded was made with an older version of the MS development kit and isn't fully compatable with FS 2004. You can get the skids back with a modification to your Fs9.cfg file but the rotors are gone for good until or unless you find an updated model made for FS 2004.

Look for your Fs9.cfg. You can find it here:

C:\Documents and Settings\*Your User Name*\Application Data\Microsoft\FS9

Make sure you have "Show hidden files" checked.

Open the file with notepad and look for this line:

[FrameCallNoWarn]
full=0

Change it to:

[FrameCallNoWarn]
full=1

Now save the file and your skids will be visible. Rotors aren't fixable. Just don't look at them until after you get the helo running then just figure they are going fast enough you can't see them.

Your best bet may be to download a model that WILL work fine in FS2004 -

Unless you really need the 'E' , Alan Devins' 109 Package includes the A, B & C versions.
