Some Addon Planes crash fs2004

Postby rifleman_506 » Fri Sep 16, 2005 11:32 pm

New to the forum and looking for some help!  Just bought FS 2004 a few weeks ago.  Been flying addon planes like Dino Canteo's F-14 A/B and the DSB F-20 just to name a few.  However, some planes just won't work.  I install them and they show up ingame (model preview in the aircraft list) but when I click "Fly Now," FS 2004 crashes.  Only a few addon planes do this, but often they're the ones I want to fly the most!  (like the F-18E Super Hornet by Daisuke Yamamoto)  I'm running FS 2004 version 9.1, the game itself runs fine, just some addon planes cause it to crash.   ???  Can anyone help me get these planes to work?

I think the problem with the aircraft you have described in your post is one of the gauges. To solve it you'll need to install a module called FSUIPC from the following site
http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

Once installed you'll need the free codes to register F16.gau which I'm hoping is the problem.
Another thing which could be causing the problem is FSSound.dll and/or Gaugesound.dll the cure for this is to add the following lines to the FS9.cfg.

[OldModules]
fssound.dll=1
gaugesound.dll=1

To find the fs9.cfg goto
c:/documents and settings/(your user name)/application data/microsoft/fs9
You'll probably need to unhide hidden files and folders.

I hope this helps.
cheers

Appearently I didn't have the Gaugesound.dll installed until a few days ago, purely by chance.  Problem solved, thanks!
