Well, use your imagination. G-FOZZ or something like that. :P :D

Then type GFOZZ in the ATC wotsit. Do I have to think of everything around here? ::) ;D

sounds like a rap artist

And now, the main Simv event we've all been waiting for...

G-FOZZ!!

break it down now! :P

In my real world experiences with flying, I have never heard someone include the 'N' number at the beginning of US registered aircraft callsigns in radio transmissions, but in the flight simulator, it always includes it

Perfectly right, Andrew... ;)...!

Which is why ATC include the word "Hyphen" in my aircraft registration details in the Flight Simulator... ;)...!

Surely someone else must have noticed this...??

Or is it only me who actually uses the radio stack for communication and navigation..?
LOL... ;D...!

Cheers all...!

Paul.

Note: All most default aircraft, and many add-on aircraft, show the registration details on the fuselage after typing the details into the ATC box.....and these details are repeated word-by-word, letter-by-letter, by ATC during communication...!

P.S. Note the English registration details on the Cessna in my signature....explains it all... ;).... ;)... ;)...!

'ello mate - didn't think anyone actually flew the default planes with the registration stuck on the side. Now c'mon - admit it - not as real as it gets is it  ;)

Most downloads have a proper reg on anyway but anything a fly regularly I always put a UK reg on, painted properly. G-AXZX is my favourite rbecause I know there's nothing on the UK Register with that registration. As you can see from the pics, I put G-TURB on the Pilatus because I know that was on a Druine Turbulent that was destroyed. Don't fly heavies so much now, but if I do, I usually prefer UK repaints with UK regs, or ones I can either repaint or turn to plain white with a UK registration. If I do the repaint like most folks I get a reg off airliners.net

Oh, then of course I leave out the hyphen in the cfg file and that way you get the best of all worlds.

Is there a way of preventing the word "hyphen" from being called out during radio communications... ;)...?

well..
you could delete the hyphen sound from the ATC folder.. or better yet, replace it so i was blank.. but FS still reckognised it was there...

I have no idea what the file is called..

Hi Roger... ;D...!

I have problems enough painting thinking about painting my garden shed, let alone fiddlin' about with a paint brush and Paint Shop Pro and modifying my existing aeroplanes.... :'(...!
If you know of an EASY way of doing it, just drop me a line at the usual address... ;D...!

It could be interesting, modifying my all trusty default/add-on Cessna 150/152/172/182's with good ol' G-Bxxx registration letters....instead of Uncle Bill's default "N" registration letters... ;D...!

We have all got to club together to stop Uncle Bill from taking over the World with his U.S. registered aeroplanes... 8)...!
LOL...!

Cheers Roger... ;D...!

Paul.

We pop over to Florida, buy a nice second-hand "N" registered 'plane, at a bargain price.....
Ferry it back, and get it re-registered with proper G-B registration letters...;)...!
It's now one of ours...8)...!
Sorted... ;D...!
LOL...!

P.S. You would not believe the problems I have with Uncle Bill... >:(...!
Just tried to install Service Pack 2....
NAH...!
He's not happy with my registration key...!
...Buggar...!
...don't it always happen... :'(...?
LOL... ;D...!

You could install EditVoicePack, as I believe it gets rid of the 'hyphen'. At least I do not hear it anymore, and thats the only reason I can think of.

You also have other options including 'international phraseology' (maybe your UK FS version already uses it) that makes communications more appropriate for your area.

Dave
At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Hi Dave... ;D...!

I will Ferret* around for "EditVoicePack" to see if that cures the problem... ;)...!

Cheers Dave...!

Quite correct

With editvoicepack I have also made my own phrases such as:

AIRWOLF

CLASSIFIED

TOP SECRET SUPERSONIC HELICOPTER

EXPERIMENTAL RUSSIAN AIRCRAFT

FIREFOX

MIG THIRTY ONE

AIR COYBOY

and so on

It is a meticulous job of creating new phrases and words through the editvoicepack voice editor program but well worth the fun of hearing the calls.

Also, on initial install and first run, you will get an ATC call update which adds hundreds of pre-made airlines and manufactures that FS does not have by default which means all those airlines you may have downloaded over the years will now have the correct information programmed into the ATC.

There is also an option to speed up the communications around busy airports (ATC talks faster) which is accurate to real aviation.

There is also a tool that calls up your aircraft.cfg files and identifies missing terms.

Maybe you hadn't noticed Paul but there's plenty of FAA registered aircraft of all types in the UK now. Almost as many as the G registered ones. Can't blame Uncle Bill for that.

PS. It's not difficult to add a few registration letters to a texture.
