All this RTW talk has got me on the bandwagon; decided to try something pretty ambitious (and weird). I'll be posting screenies of the first leg soon, but here's a hint: it involves modifying the stock DC3's cfg file to simulate a not-so-uncommon wartime "overload" gross weight of about 33,000 lbs.
I removed the pax weight from each seat station, reduced the stock empty weight to simulate seats, etc. being removed (I believe FS9 figures are for passenger version), and tried to create several centerline tanks at corresponding stations (need a LOT of fuel for some legs of my RTW trip), but FS would only "allow" me to add two more (meaning they just didn't "take").  I'm not sure how it could be a w&B thing, as  there would normally be quite a bit of cargo or pax aft of the station in question. What i mean is: Why can't i at least replace pax or cargo with fuel? Seems like it'd be pretty straightforward- weight is weight.
Whatever...
Still not enough fuel, so I had to make all tanks bigger, even adding a wee bit to the wing tanks. Haven't bothered to check what the actual dimensions of the tanks would be, etc., but I've already flown one leg, and it's not bad at all . Won't really go over 140 kts IAS, but that'll do, and it's stable in pitch.
Another surprise is that although I've still only got the aux/left/right tank selector, the program automatically starts taking fuel from the aft-most tank at the same time as whatever stock tank(s) I've selected. That's a nice break!
And I've still got some weight allowance left over for myself and about 200 lbs. of miscellaneous stuff. I guess that would include extra oil... I'll admit I haven't figured this down to the finest detail, but it'll be at least a little more interesting having  some limitation to my range... I haven't used GPS yet, so with the old ADF and VHF-range receivers (no radials available), I can still get plenty off-course.  Didn't do too bad on the first leg, but I'll have to do better, as the next and longest leg is over twice as far...  and of course, the plaane will behave a little differently at such a gross weight.

Rotty, have you tried increasing the max weight in the config file? Its under the weight section... it will allow you to increase the weight to 33000. I did it wit my AG-14. i increased it from 1400 to 3000. My little creation is almost ready to take flight. I've increased its fuel capacity from 23 gallons to 200, i had to increase it's lift to accomodate and i'm modifying the engine to get it to cruise at around 200 knots. i'm also going to do a repaint of it in a RTW livery to celebrate.

Winged One, I know you can run your RTW trip any way you want, and I certainly don't intend to offend you here, but with that many modifications to the aircraft, why not just use a different plane?  Otherwise you simply have a model that looks good but flies completely different, or has way different parameters than it should.  Again, don't mean to offend you or anything, I was just curious, is all.  You must really love that AG-14.

No offence taken... I like the AG-14 for some odd reason... maybe because it is an unusual craft. The reason why I'm not using a different aircraft is because by doing it this way I can use the AG-14 an learn how to edit a aircraft.cfg file. It s win-win
