You could always take the option of hitting "alt" during your flight go to the the settings menu (I think) and then adjusting your fuel level.
However as Nick says, getting to the airport before you hear that noise, similar to my son sucking on a straw trying to get the last drop of juice out from the bottom of his glass, is all part of the "game"

2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.
